History
Univab was founded by Tomas Fredeby in 1985.
Prior to that he also founded and developed a retail shop (Comfortbutiken) for bathroom equipment is his hometown of Skövde. Beside traditional bathroom equipment he also sold valves, pipes and pipe fittings to counties and companies in the area.
In 1977, Tomas moved to Gothenburg and got employed at a wholesaler company. As a salesman at the export- and industrial department, his experiences and knowledge was a great benefit to his employer.
The first customer to handle was WP System AB. The company was the general contractor and responsible for the paper mill project in Bai Bang, Vietnam. The very first order was a pipe system and valves for the factory water system. The Bai Bang Factory is still one of Univab’s biggest individual retail customers.
Tomas is most likely the last, still active seller, who has delivered valves to most of the Swedish shipping yards.
- Just to mention a few of them; Götaverken, Arendalsvarvet, Uddevallavarvet and Kockums. Most of the Swedish shipping yards went out of business decades ago.
With a history exceeding 25 years, the company’s service policy is to be a reliable supplier of industrial components as long as the quality and price meet up the demands of the customers.
